The Tebis open house took place on the 12th and 13th of June 2024 at Tebis’ headquarters in Martinsried, near Munich, Germany and it was held under the motto "Shape The Future". More than 400 visitors had an opportunity to learn more about CAD/CAM/MES software and services. The open house featured an inspiring program of presentations and an extensive exhibit. Visitors got up-to-date information with the Tebifair app created specifically for the event. Many partners from the Tebis technology network also presented their solutions.
Inspiring presentation program
To start, Dr. Thomas Wrede, CEO of Tebis AG, invited guests in his keynote presentation to proactively shape the future of the industry and to take advantage of the opportunities offered by new technology.
Jürgen Strohmeier, Head of BMW Die Manufacturing in Munich and Dingolfing, Germany, then spoke about how to optimally use planning to network engineering, design, machining and assembly and commissioning in a prize-winning die manufacturing company.
Tobias Herwig, host of the Factory of the Future podcast, explained why innovation in manufacturing is often difficult to implement and the steps that companies can take to achieve success.
Ralf Hesener, Head of Die Engineering at Gedia Gebrüder Dingerkus GmbH, discussed who has to be on board and how much time has to be allocated to implement a planning and control system.
Dr. Joachim Schuster, Managing Director of SCHAUFLER Tooling GmbH & Co. KG, showed the impact of the CAD/CAM system on standardised manufacturing and on achievable levels of quality.
Johannes Peter and Philip Schwinn, Managing Directors of Tooling Cooperation GmbH, reported on the improvements in safety, speed and portfolio that can result from collaborations between die manufacturing companies.
Extensive exhibit
The exhibit featured six topics that are impacting our manufacturing processes now and in the future:
Cloud & SaaS
Guests learned about the Tebifair app and about current development projects in CAD/CAM and MES based on cloud technology that increases user benefits.
Automation
A brief process quality analysis by Tebis Consulting provided attendees with specific information on these topics that offers the fastest potential for improvement. Guests experienced the entire range of modern CAD/CAM technologies at the Open House, including parametric design, reverse engineering, automatic NC preparation, template technology and intelligent and safe machining functions for 2 to 8 axes.
Digitalisation & networking
This area showed how planning and workflow can be digitally and flexibly visualised. Other topics included digital twins and simulation and measurement on the machine for safe manufacturing results. Guests also got advice on successful strategies and appropriate implementation of these technologies in their companies.
Artificial intelligence
Visitors were especially interested in the current research projects on active surface preparation and manufacturing preparation.
Guests heard suggestions on how to identify the right strategies for meeting the challenges of globalisation: for example, with supplier integration in the cloud.
Sustainability
The Green Lounge presented pioneering approaches and strategies for a green and sustainable future. The offerings ranged from informative discussions to specific consulting on sustainability.
The manufacturing process of the future
The Tebifair app provided guests with the opportunity to use a digital process solution to manufacture an individual coin and to follow all of the processes live.
Guests used the app to generate a total of 370 orders in the cloud using the ProLeiS MES software; they were automatically planned and assigned to the next available NC programmer.
The NC programs generated with Tebis were automatically registered and sent to each of our three milling partners (DMG MORI, GROB and Hermle).
A supplier portal provides access to the list of received orders and to the associated NC programs and delivery notes. Some of the partners had also integrated their own MES solutions directly into ProLeiS in the cloud.
