Expansion plans gather pace at RK International Machine Tools

RK International Machine Tools has announced the appointment of Andy Woodthorpe to the newly created role of sales and office manager at the Erith, Kent-based machine tool company. He joins the company after a long and successful career at a leading supplier of sawing machines, where he oversaw the day-to-day running of the business. The skills and knowledge he’s developed over his 19 years there, including customer and supplier relations, as well as a deep understanding of logistics, will be brought to the fore in his new position.

Simon Rood, director and general manager of RK International Machine Tools, says: “Andy’s appointment is part of RK International Machine Tools’ long-term development plan that will help future-proof the business as we continue to grow and develop. His experience will play a part in our ongoing diversification and strengthen our product portfolio and further enhance our customer relationships.”

Initially, he will be responsible for first-line response to customer telephone inquiries for machine tool sales, sales office activities and external sales team, forecasting and CRM reporting, along with developing the consumable sales activities and overseeing RK International Machine Tools entry into new market sectors.

Andy Woodthorpe concludes: “The opportunity to become part of the future success of RK International Machine Tools is one that I am looking forward to. ITC appoints new engineer to support Northern customer base

Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) has witnessed exceptional growth levels over the last five years with year-on-year sales increases exceeding 15 percent. In line with the company’s ambitious strategy for expansion, ITC is conscious of maintaining its impressive commitment to service and customer support. This is why it has appointed Gary Murrey as the latest addition to its growing team.

The remarkable company growth in the North of England has now seen the Tamworth cutting tool experts employ Gary Murrey as an application engineer to support the sales efforts of both Northern area technical sales engineers, Jason Clark and Gary Heaney. Gary Heaney and Jason Clark have both been with ITC for many years and their exceptional sales performance, combined with the addition of new UK manufactured cutting tool ranges from ITC, extended Widia product lines and the continual addition of BIG KAISER technology has seen sales in the region rocket.

To support the sales team, and the ever-growing customer base with technical expertise and support, Gary Murrey has joined ITC. Ideally located in the Wigan area, Gary Murrey has almost 30 years manufacturing experience that has included an apprenticeship as a machinist at shipbuilder Vosper Thornycroft and lengthy periods as a 5-axis machinist and programmer with GE Aviation. His experience also includes being a production and applications engineer with the 600 Group, a senior manufacturing engineer at VTL and almost five years as a technical sales engineer for cutting tool manufacturers and distributors in the North West. This culmination of experience has provided Gary Murrey with extensive insight into the challenges of the aerospace, ship building and automotive sectors, while his more recent career path has seen him apply his knowledge to provide technical solutions to the respective industry sectors.

SCHUNK introduces new general manager

After 18 years at the helm of SCHUNK Intec Ltd, Martin Kent has stepped down from his role as general manager to allow Marcel Machado to take the reins and continue Martin Kent’s exceptional efforts. As the new general manager at SCHUNK, Marcel Machado has arrived from leading machine tool and plastic injection moulding brand ROMI Machine Tools.

Marcel Machado graduated as a mechanical engineer from university in Brazil and was immediately accepted on the ROMI graduate training program and subsequently a management fast-track initiative. In 2011, Marcel Machado arrived in the UK to take the role as sales & technical manager at ROMI UK, soon graduating to the role of general manager in 2014. Following a period of rapid growth, and market penetration for the ROMI brand in the UK, the self-driven Marcel Machado desired a new challenge; and SCHUNK has delivered the perfect opportunity.

Key appointment at leading UK measurement specialist

Measurement Solutions, the UK partner for Creaform 3D portable metrology and Metrologic Group inspection software, has announced the appointment of Andrew Tagg as its new business development director.

Following the recent news that the business is undergoing re-structuring to better meet the needs of the industrial measurement market, Andrew Tagg has been appointed to take responsibility for business development and strategic growth of Measurement Solutions in the coming years. With over 10 years sales experience within the portable metrology and 3D scanning sectors, Andrew will provide the company with an injection of business and sales experience.

Starting his career as a design engineer, he soon moved to FARO Technologies and quickly developed through the ranks to regional sales manager, establishing the UK salesforce as easily the leading supplier of portable measuring arms. After 10 years of developing sales in the UK, he was also given responsibility for sales in several European territories, including Scandinavia, Benelux and the Spanish market. In 2015, following a re-structuring of the FARO business into vertical market sectors, Andrew was promoted to sales director EMEA for 3D Documentation Technologies, including scanning applications such as architecture, cultural heritage, mining and accident & crime scenes. At the end of 2016, his success was rewarded with promotion to global sales director for Faro’s Product Design sector, managing worldwide sales of scanning technologies for reverse engineering, product design and CADCAM modelling.

AndrewTagg has been well known throughout the UK metrology sector for many years and is respected by both his work colleagues and competitors alike. A focused individual who takes great pride in team-leading and achieving performance objectives, ultimately resulting in rapid sales growth, he brings with him a strong reputation for recruiting and mentoring young, energetic sales teams, which will certainly benefit the recent re-structuring of the Measurement Solutions business.

Hoffmann becomes a European Company

Hoffmann, a leading system partner for quality tools, has become a European Company, Societas Europaea (SE), with effect from 7th December 2017. As part of the transition, and to support its strategic transformation, changes to the board of executive directors have been approved.
The supervisory board of Hoffmann SE has appointed Annette Stieve to the board of executive directors of Hoffmann SE, effective 1st January 2018. Annette Stieve will be responsible for finance & general services. Annette Stieve comes from French company Faurecia, an international leading automotive supplier where she was managing director of the German subsidiary.

The supervisory board of Hoffmann SE has also appointed Borries Schüler to the board of executive directors, also with effect from 1st January 2018. Borries Schüler will be responsible for strategic product management and has been working with Hoffmann since 2002, leading the company’s biggest product segments in that time.

In another change, also with effect from 1st January 2018, Siegfried Neher will assume responsibility for the new executive board function human resources (HR) & strategic transformation. Siegfried Neher has been with Hoffmann since 1997 and has led different areas of responsibility in the past.
