Metrology partnership brings Vision to CMM market

Vision Engineering has announced that it is partnering with metrology innovator Aberlink to add the first contact-only measurement system, DELTRON, to its range of metrology systems.

Designed for robustness, reliability, affordability and ease-of-use, Deltron is a shop floor hardened non-cartesian CMM with an innovative delta robotic mechanism, known for repeatable motion, fast acceleration and a high level of measurement accuracy. The delta mechanism on Deltron operates with a maximum vector speed of 500 mm/sec and a maximum vector acceleration of 750 mm/sec2.

Deltron is built with temperature sensors which ensure the measurement results are as though they were performed at 20 degrees C. This means the system can be positioned anywhere it is needed, next to a machine tool, in a manufacturing cell, or used in a dedicated inspection area.

The cylindrical measuring volume of the system is 370 mm (14.5”) diameter x 270mm (10.6”) in height. The measuring accuracy of 2.6 + 0.4L/100 μm incorporates 0.1 μm resolution scales and a granite base supports parts up to 200 kg (440 lbs). Delivered with ViTouch3D, a powerful and easy-to-use software, suitable for a range of abilities.

Deltron is the result of a new partnership between Vision Engineering, and Aberlink Ltd, the largest UK-owned manufacturer of co-ordinate measuring machines, vision measuring systems and measurement software.  Both Vision Engineering and Aberlink are well known manufacturers in their respective markets and the collaboration will allow both companies to extend their coverage of the global metrology market.

Calibration lab attains ISO 17025:2017 accreditation

Vision Engineering, the 61 year-old British leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality visual measurement and inspection technologies, has attained ISO 17025:2017 accreditation from UKAS and is now a UKAS accredited calibration laboratory No. 7706.

The award of ISO 17025:2017 by UKAS Accreditation, which is globally recognised, is the only mechanism that determines the technical competence and integrity of organisations offering testing and calibration services. ISO 17025:2017 not only contains requirements for the quality management system of the organisation but also includes detailed and specific technical criteria for the operation of the technical service, including ensuring the competence of personnel.

Vision Engineering’s temperature-controlled calibration laboratory is now ISO17025:2017 certified for the calibration of measurement stages, instrumentation and artefacts performed at Vision’s high-tech manufacturing complex in Woking, Surrey.

The full-service modern manufacturing facility includes design, machine shops, paint shop, clean room and assembly. It is replicated in the USA, with a wholly owned full-service manufacturing facility in Connecticut. Measurement calibration and technical support is provided through a network of Vision Engineering subsidiaries in Germany, France, Italy, Japan, China, India and Malaysia

Vision Engineering wins Queen’s Award

Vision Engineering, a 61 year old British leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality visual inspection and measurement technologies, has been awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2020 in the Innovation category, for its high tech ergonomic optical inspection microscope Lynx EVO.

 The Queens Award for Innovation recognises exceptional achievement by UK businesses and is acknowledged as the highest UK award for companies. It is awarded to products or services that have been available on the market and can demonstrate outstanding innovation and commercial success for at least two years.

Lynx EVO is a high productivity eyepiece-less stereo microscope providing market leading ergonomic performance for intricate inspection and manipulation tasks. It combines ergonomic & optical excellence with digital real time information transfer capabilities. Developed using Vision Engineering’s globally patented ‘expanded pupil’ technology, it was developed to address the issue of operator efficiency.

Expanded pupil technology, based on patented optical microarray surfaces maximises possible head/body movement, hand to eye coordination, use of peripheral sensory information and allows operators to sit further away from the eye-piece, leading to improved user posture, reduced fatigue and improved accuracy and efficiency.

Lynx EVO was also developed to enhance multi-site design and manufacturing by improving the digital sharing of detailed real time information across complex manufacturing and distribution supply chains.

Lynx EVO has been widely adopted around the world for critical manufacturing operations, by large medtech, medical device, telecomms, aerospace, automotive and other manufacturers and their extended subcontract supply chains. 95 percent of Vision Engineering’s output is exported.
